West Jordan High School

Where did you go to high school? What year did you graduate? How many were in your graduating class? Do you rely on the usual reunions to get together?  Or...

I graduated from West Jordan High School in West Jordan, Utah! I would not trade those years for anything! I graduated in 1989 with well over 600 students in our class! Did I know every one of them? I would have to say no, I didn't, although I had probably met a vast majority of them at one point in time or another! I have attended every reunion we've had, even though the people I'd like to see the most will most likely never attend a reunion!

With things like Facebook, do classes even still have reunions? All those I know of still do..BUT, if you were anything like me, I had friends that were in all other grades and so, what about seeing them since their classes have their own reunions? In preparing this post, I was searching for a link or two and came across this video for the 20 year reunion of the class of 1988. It kind of proves my point that many of us knew those in other classes...just watch and see how many featured here were actually not in class of 1988! In any case, it's a good representation of the alumni and the 80's, lol:

I'm proud to say that some brilliant Jaguar alumni have come up with a couple great ideas! First, once or twice a year there is a Jaguar alumni gathering, usually at a park, nothing fancy, a potluck with good friends and new friends alike! For any WJHS alumni, not just one class or another!

The other idea is a monthly breakfast! This is on a Saturday morning where a local place is chosen and all who want to come and enjoy good eats and great company! They've been doing this for months, but this morning was the first one I've attended! We met at the Blue Plate Diner in Salt Lake City! I will blog more about that on Thursday over at Batty Bites.

For today, I went said hi to the few I knew before this morning, then sat in an open seat! Turns out the gal that sat next to me was one that I was hoping to see and visit with today! Turns out we are cousins, somewhere along the line! She was excited about the possibility, too! After we ate, most of them left and the few of us left sat and visited for another hour! Represented were from classes 1985 to class of 1989, a variety by any definition! So, I would say it was a great success...made a new friend of few....watst2u?

I don't know anyone from my graduation class so I've never been to a reunion. But I have wondered if it would be ok to crash the reunion of what would have been my graduation class. Like you, I had friends in other grades. And I'd like to meet up with my friends from the other high schools I attended...

What a great write-up, Rebecca!! So glad you were able to make it and I look forward to seeing you at the summer gathering coming up soon. I will post the invite in the next few weeks. Be sure to add any friends from any class that you think would like to attend. It will be a great time. Should be around late August or early September. xoxoxoxo

I have often wondered about going to the reunion of another class. It could be interesting, lol. I do like these friend gatherings, though. You attended schools in several different areas, right? I have known people to attend the reunions for the same class they would have graduated with in all areas where they attended schools. Just a thought...

Ami, I am so glad I went. It was fun and I made a couple new friends to boot! I will definitely help spread the word and see what I can about attending...will the monthly breakfast meetings be on hold until after that?
